Freelancer background : I've completed the Singleplayer campaign a couple of times and a few hours in Crossfire mod multi. My fighter char has been through battles ranging from 6-7Corsairs to 15+Nomads(and/or Dom'Kavash) and it came out smelling like roses. I just returned it from exploring Altair, waiting do to some exploring in the Inner Core .

Dunno who the Russia or Back Fire chars belong to and I did see one guy called Alexey (I think). Truth be told I didn't do much research on the names to see if they are taken, if they are I guess someone will eventually tell me . Till then I'll wear the name "Back Fire" proudly ).

It was interesting as both appeared nearly the same time, and both posted on teh same thread one after the other once, the only difference btw names was that his had "Aleksei aka RUSSIA" heh

We hereby accept you as a Recruit of the SA and, for a period of two weeks, you will submit to the Reruitment Trial Period to eventually pass the Graduation Test and become a regular member of the Silver Arrows. Until then, you shall not use the clan tag (SA_).

Ok. Let me get a few things straight.
First off, I have to contact one of the trainers in-game.
Secondly, I will be given one or more tasks to complete (I suppose some type of piloting or gunnery test.)
Third and last, I have to pass the trials they give me.

I've read in the manual that to pass to the ensign level I have to shoot down 15 nomad ships.

Can I ask who was this trainer?

I have met Aleksei in game today, and I cleared some things up for him about recruitement and trials.

How did it go with Dervon Aleksei?

@Forlon: no he does not have a trainer, but wondered if he had to contact one...

Anyone flying with an SA tag should be able to help you with understanding. There are also other players like Zeroth, though he hasn't been around in a while, or Loyal who would be happy to help you with any PvP or player vs NPC fighting. I myself am a pushover, and if you ask me for help that doesn't involve credits, I'll nearly always help out.

heh Thx Faaby for sure he can ask. I was only not sure what was trials he mentioned.

@Forlon: I was just unclear about the trial of initiation/recruitment. I always see a trial as a set mission (like fight 12 nomads with no battery/bots )

@Faaby: Along with Timmy, we've managed to kill about 6 or 7 ancients. We kinda overdid it when we saw that they drop ancient cannons . Now we're apparently friendly with Dom'Kavash.

One problem I do have on the fighter char is that I kinda messed up my rep. I'm hostile with Daumann Ind (i think that's the name) and since they're Rheinland, I get a lot of flak from police,military etc everytime one of them spots me.I was thinking of hitting some Unioners depos, but can't find any.

The trial period doesnt consist of anythign specific. Its a time period of two weeks where yo uget to knwo us and we get to know you. Of course, the more you help the clan members the higher we think of you when comes to evaluate you in the graduation trial.

About your rep, seek a junkers base and take a Junkers bribe... it will make your rep as much neutral as it can get. if you're already full gree nwith them, kill some of them to lower your rep to neutral but allow yourself to still be able to dock a statio nto get the bribe.

Do not worry too much about reputation for now, as if you succeed trials and join SA you will have to start a new character with SA tag.

Alexei: good work in Devron. It is not easy with Drones. I spend there much of my time before I learn how to kill them

I know I'll have to make a new char. I just need a profitable trade route to gather the money. Last time I visited Altair for a ship I had 40mil on me, all that was left after:5mil ). But I would prefer to keep the current fighter ship. It served me well. (It's a Nike )

P.S. I managed to fix the rep with daumann, the only hostiles now are the weak pirates (L Rogues,Lane Hackers .. etc).

If anyone needs me to ride shotgun, just whistle .

I recommend the Shroud to start out with. Don't listen to any of these "experienced" players because they found the ship that works best for them. Start with a shroud, then look around for something that works best for you. Like I flew the shroud for a while, now I fly the Black Angel VHF, aka the Dolphtorp. Just my opinion, sorry if I insulted anyone.

hehe just go the Thanatos. Great ship! Got through 20 nomad ships with little to no effort. Those gatlings along with a lightning fast turn rate just ripped through nomad ships like paper.

nope

Nah, you want things with a high fire rate for dogfighting. I use a pair of gats and a pair of W'ar-sys for both shield and hull busting damage. Now, a tip. If you are using two or more different kinds of guns, check their speed. You want weapons that have close to a same projectile speed, or else your targeting computer gets all screwy. Also, weapons with a faster projectile speed are generally considered more accurate because your target has less time to get out of the way.

SA rlly needs to know this especially the first part:
You must take the war to the enemy.

So in ASF vs CSF, always get them in their own system so teh frags are counted there !

@Seqan .. Hm, didn't think about that. I'm really starting to ignore the targeting assistant in dogfights, since I rarely get to see the cursor. I mostly shoot by reflex (that probably accounts for the poor aim ) ). But you bring up a very interesting idea. I guess the targeting script has to choose one weapon speed to calculate, so the other one get's the shaft .

I tried two or three times to shoot down the CSF battleship with sunslayer torpedoes and a full barrage of lvl 10 and lvl 9 missles but the damned thing disappeared before I launched the second volley.

As a follow-up question: I saw on the news bar that a player is wanted for raiding an outpost.("Tomcat_F14 - Assaulting UR's outpost Severn in Nephele")
Can I attack a station and disable it?

Yes, but not atm because the destructable universe is offline.
